The Romanian Society of Bioengineering and Biotechnology (SRBB) is a scientific, professional, non-patrimonial, apolitical organization with legal personality; whose members come from research institutes, faculties and companies both in the field of bioengineering and biotechnology as well as in related fields.

Consistent with the principle of unity in diversity, SRBB promotes competence and excellence in bioengineering and biotechnology, ethical behavior, for an economic and sustainable development of Romanian society.

The society was established since 1990 as a forum for the exchange of ideas in these areas of great interest. The organization has been affiliated since 1993 to the European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB), the most prestigious European scientific forum in the field of biotechnologies. Since May 2005, it has been affiliated to the Romanian Federation of Biomedical Engineering.
